From Nasi200

The NASi200 software is distributed under the Gnu General Public License, version 2. It is based on the GPL-licensed source code that Linksys makes available on their website.

NASi200 also includes some binary files that are destributed by Linksys as part of their GPL-licensed source tarball. We understand that Linksys is not obliged to reveal the source code to these binaries, even though they are used by GPL-licensed software (for example, the FTP daemon is open-source but the Linksys-modified version uses a closed-source library to determine which directories should be shared to which users). There is no explicit statement from Linksys about redistribution of these binary files. We hope that Linksys agrees that unmodified redistribution of binaries by us is a win-win situation: it allows us to quickly develop alternative firmware that might encourage people to purchase the device, and it reduces their website's bandwidth because developers and users won't have to download the binary files from there.
